Rule No.2
What I really mean is …
Never underestimate the POWER of a good hair accessory!
Thats right! Im talking about the importance of investing in some really cute, trendy, go-to hair accessories & ALL within a budget! I’m all for a good bargain hunt, aren’t you?! I mean I want you to invest in some really good friends OBVIOUSLY, but were here to talk about YOUR NEW BESTIES FOR LIFE!
Not only will this help you get through those dirty days, so you can prolong washing you hair, WINNIN
G!, but this will also help make your hair game so much easier.
I was that girl in elementary school with the big bows, giant headbands, jumbo clips & matching dresses. THANK’S MOM! Anyone else?! Every day it was a new outfit & a new hair do with a matching bow of course. I mean duh! I was also that girl who desperately wanted to play with that big Barbie head with the never ending hair that you could cut, style & accessorize! I mean, obviously it eventually runs out, but that’s besides the point. I was too old when Barbie finally came out with the coolest toy ever & I also didn’t know about mannequins at this point, so unfortunately for all of my barbies, they rocked lobs, jumbo clips (literally) & high pony’s with the crazy hair ties with the 2 plastics balls at either end. Remember thoses?! Experimenting with hairstyles & hair accessories become my favorite hobby growing up, which eventually turned into a full time job. Hair accessories can turn your hair from messy, frizzy, or boring, to stylish, chic & trendy, all while keeping your hair routine low maintenance. This my friends is called EFFORTLESSLY CHIC!
I’m a low maintenance type of girl, who also wants to appear like I got my sh*t together, especially when it comes to my hair, & I’m a hairstylist! lol But Hey! I’m just as busy as you guys. I have a husband, house, 2 crazy wild boys, a family business, my BLOG & social media which is another full time job. There’s a lot going on & not enough time in the day, so spending the least amount of time on my hair, skin, & makeup routines are a
M U S T!
Hair accessories make everything better.
Now I’m not saying to go out & blow all your money on hair accessories. But finding the right ones that work for you & your style is the way to go. Here are some of my go to hair accessories & why.
Baseball caps & beanies: I love hats, like LOVE LOVE LOVE hats. I wear them 3-4 times a week, at least! But I swear, if my dad tells me I'm going to go bald from wearing a hat 1 more time, I'm going to lose my SH*T. lol Its just not possible! Maybe if the hat is on super tight & is worn all day & night, but no one does that so come on man! Please don't let this stop you from rocking some really cool hats out there. They are seriously the best way to cover up dirty, greasy roots, sweaty hair, bed head messy hair, air dried frizzy hair, 3" inches of roots omg I need to get my color done & Holy Sh*t my grey are showing! It's a total game changer & WAY EFFORTLESSLY CHIC!
The Jumbo claw clip: There is a specific one that I am talking about from Free People, which happens to be one of my go to stores for hair accessories. SO, it's jumbo, comes in super cute prints & colors & is only $10.00. The best $10.00 you'll ever spend. These jumbo clips are perfect for preserving a blow out or freshly done beach waves & curls for days. The claw is huge & wide, which help prevents indents. Rule of thumb- If you just curled your hair, wear your hair in a tight top knot bun on the top of your head, any time your just chilling around the house or running errands using the big claw clip of course. This will help keep your curls smooth & defined. If you just got a super fresh blow out, or did one your self (double shot blow dryer by the dry bar blog post coming soon) then I like to sustain my blowout by putting my hair in a low pony tail w/the claw clip. Its provides the perfect light hold w/o and indentations. It also helps keep your hair out of your face so the oils around your face won't weigh down & grease up the hair around your face. AND for people like me who obsessively play with their hair, too bad because you can't. Ha ha!
Jumbo beaded hair clips: I guess you can say I'm into JUMBO hair accessories. lol Thats only because everyone will be so focused on the really chic, trendy, bedazzled hair clip, rather then your dirty, messy hair. okurrrrrrrrr! It's the perfect distraction plus its super easy to style your hair. You can rock them with a half up half down hair style, low ponytail or bun, to finish off your braids, clips your bangs out of the way, or to even hold your freshly done hair back while your doing your make up or washing your face. They also bring any hair style & outfit to the next level! They are very versatile & multipurpose, just the way I like it!
Silk scrunchies: Of ALL sizes okay. lol As of 2021, Silk hair ties are the only hair ties I will be using. I literally threw out all the other annoying hair ties, that stretch out so easily, snap my fingers off, & leave the most outrageous indents in my hair EVER! So I like the silk hair ties for multiple reasons. There is literally no pulling, tugging or friction on your hair, which in return creates LESS frizz & MORE shine! Yes thats right, less frizz & more shine. What more could you ask for. Lets not forget barley any indents! I totally thought that was a myth, but after experimenting on my own hair for the past couple of months, its safe to say there are LITERALLY no indents. So, so minor that you wouldn't be able to tell unless you were looking for one. They also make the perfect arm stack & pair nicely with your beaded gold filled bracelets. You know, Because
Girls who stack together stay together!
Some of MY GO TO SHOPS
are Free People, Urban Outfitters & Anthropologie. You can rely on Free People for everything trendy & beachy with the coolest colors, prints & patterns. I also find up and coming brands through Free People. Urban Outfitters is the most budget friendly, with super cool & chic hair accessories. If you didn’t know already, Anthropologie has its own wedding brand called BHLDN with the most beautiful, elegant, one of a kind hair accessories around. But no matter where I’m shopping I always follow my #1 RULE,
which everyone should live by, BY THE WAY. As soon as you walk into the store, or these days go onto their website, make sure to ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS go straight to the clearance section! I mean it! Keep an eye out for SALE signs, do a little hunting, & make sure to never pay full price unless you really need it. Stores are going to hate me for saying this (well thats if they ever read this lol), but I just know that about 90% of the hair accessories I have always wanted, wound up in the clearance sections a month or 2 later. I don’t mind the waiting game, if that means I could get more for my buck. I MEAN DUHHH !
Practically every hair accessory I own was from the clearance sections, so thats why I have so many!
If that doesn’t convince you
, then I don’t know what will?! Still a little clueless on where to start & how to style your hair, then check out my Instagram, Pinterest & TikTok pages (all the same handle, Legallybrondee). I’m always experimenting with EFFORTLESSLY CHIC
hairstyles & hair accessories !
